1022 Evergreen Place by Debbie Macomber

Part of a series.

I expected it to focus more on the residents of 1022 Evergreen Place. It was mixed in with a lot of the stories of the neighborhood. Still enjoyed it and would like to read more of the series.

Puss 'n Cahoots by Rita Mae Brown

Since I came in late to the series it took a bit to get straight who was who, animal or people.
An enjoyable mystery. The monkey was like I've heard pet monkeys are.

The Time Machine by H. G. Wells

Classic. An unnamed time traveler tells his tale. His listeners don't believe him of course. He skips from his time to the distant future. No stops in-between like the movie.

The Stranger by Albert Camus

The flat unemotional reactions of Meursault the Autistic boy in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

I know that wasn't what Albert Camus intended. He never heard of the Autism spectrum. But, that is what Merusault reminded me off. The lack of emotional connection with people. The observing details of his surroundings. It was as he didn't understand the question when asked if he felt bad about his mother's death.

Vision in White by Nora Roberts

Sweet romance. And I enjoyed the trouble they had to deal with at the wedding.

Being Dumbledore's man

On a recent animal show I learned that the relationship between an oxpecker bird and the hippopotamus is no longer considered a mutually beneficial relationship.

It was thought the oxpecker gets the food and the hippo gets cleaned. But scientist have come to realize the birds pick at the wounds to keep it open so they can get more food. So they prevent the hippos from healing.

That is a great metaphor for Dumbledore. DD seems to be helping, but he doesn't let them heal.

He seems to have helped Snape with keeping him out of Azkaban, and giving Snape a job. But DD keeps Snape wounded, never letting him heal.

If a member of the Slug club is a huge success and doesn't think he needs Slughorn, Slughorn is happy to enjoy bragging rights.

With Dumbledore he makes sure that his people stay dependent.
