The Stranger by Albert Camus
Jun. 13th, 2015 03:02 pmThe flat unemotional reactions of Meursault the Autistic boy in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
I know that wasn't what Albert Camus intended. He never heard of the Autism spectrum. But, that is what Merusault reminded me off. The lack of emotional connection with people. The observing details of his surroundings. It was as he didn't understand the question when asked if he felt bad about his mother's death.

Being Dumbledore's man
Jun. 13th, 2015 04:16 pmOn a recent animal show I learned that the relationship between an oxpecker bird and the hippopotamus is no longer considered a mutually beneficial relationship.
It was thought the oxpecker gets the food and the hippo gets cleaned. But scientist have come to realize the birds pick at the wounds to keep it open so they can get more food. So they prevent the hippos from healing.
That is a great metaphor for Dumbledore. DD seems to be helping, but he doesn't let them heal.
He seems to have helped Snape with keeping him out of Azkaban, and giving Snape a job. But DD keeps Snape wounded, never letting him heal.
If a member of the Slug club is a huge success and doesn't think he needs Slughorn, Slughorn is happy to enjoy bragging rights.
With Dumbledore he makes sure that his people stay dependent.
