I'm really enjoying the series on PBS. Nice funny cozy mystery with beautiful locations.

I read one of the books, but it wasn't the first - so I didn't really get who Agatha was. Agatha felt like an elderly person's age. Sometimes the book said things that made me think she was suppose to be young, sometimes that she was suppose to be old. Seeing the 1st episode helped me get who she is. Now I'd like to go back and read the books.

The new season is coming up. I hope it is better than last season. I hated the Sir Anthony/Edith story line.

After Sybil ran off with the chauffeur Lord Grantham should have been leaping with joy that Edith was engaged and marry someone as traditionally suitable as Sir Anthony.

PBS has been showing the prior season to build up anticipation for the new one.

Recently they showed how when Matthew was believed to be crippled for life Cora and Violet brought Lavinia to Downton to break up Matthew and Mary, because they felt Mary was too attached to Matthew. When Lord Grantham spoke to his wife about it he said "you can be surprisingly cold hearted sometimes". If he thinks his wife was cold hearted for working to break up Mary from a man who really did at that point require a nurse and they believed would be unable to ever consummate the relationship; what is he for breaking up Edith from a man who has one bad arm?

When Lord Grantham is confronted by Edith and her Grandmother Martha, he only relents because he is ashamed of how he looks to Martha. When Edith ask "do you want me to be alone for the rest of my life" his "of course not" was extremely reluctant. I think he only said that because Martha was there. If he had been alone with Edith perhaps he would have said the truth - yes, your going to remain single and take care of your mother and I in our old age. (Which makes more sense than any of his stated reasons.)

Sir Anthony is portrayed as a very proper English gentleman. I feel like someone like that would feel duty bound to go through with the wedding if he found himself standing at the alter - even if he felt it was a big mistake.

Isobel helping prostitutes is in character, but why train for roles "in service"? Wouldn't it make more sense to train Ethel (who hated being a maid, said she couldn't wait to move up into something else and ended up wrecking her job) in the new opportunities the invention of the typewriter has opened up?

I hope the new season is better.

I'm beginning to think the show has jumped the shark.

I wish they had gone home when the curse was broken.

On Primeval I got frustrated with Steven's claim that he didn't say anything to Valerie to make her think they were responsible for the Sabortooth tiger's creation. Every word and expression of his screamed he was involved in something he considered wrong.
