The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp
Jul. 22nd, 2014 07:07 pmIt was a mixture of comedy, straight forward cowboy movie, dark serious movie. It just didn't work for me.
There were parts I liked. I liked that Kimosobe meant wrong brother.
But I felt like it didn't know what it wanted to be. It wasn't over the top enough for a Johny Depp/Helena Bonham Carter movie. Armie Hammer was almost funny as the straight lace laywer.
Then they throw in very dark elements with Butch Cavendish eating the heart.
I don't think they handled the part well about was Tonto crazy or was he right. We learn his sad story which was touching. But then we get attacking rabbits. It made no sense.
Then the framing of the Indians - since when did the "White Man" need justification to break a treaty? If the treaty is inconvenent they would just break it.
