Immortal in Death not a bad mystery. There isn't enough Sci-fi in it for me. The future setting feels like window dressing. There is very little you would need to change to have it set today.The futurist setting isn't really essential to the plot.
I think Roarke is very Gary-Stu. He is just too perfect.Rich,handsome, totally devoted. They also get together too fast. In the Stephanie Plum series Janet Evanovich drages things out too long for getting the main characters together. Here J.D. Robb does it too quickly.
