Lily's Changes
Sep. 16th, 2012 07:04 pmI started reading a fanfiction called Lily's Changes, but go mad & stopped.
Voldemort a mass murder, who killed, James, Lily and tried to kill Harry is redeemable; but Snape is not?
When Snape quizzes Harry in the first potion class Harry objects because there was no warning of an upcoming quiz. What, you've never heard of a pop quiz? Then Harry says the subject if brand new to most of the students. What, most students are muggle born? Potions would only be completely new to children who were not raised around wizards. Hermione was worried about being at a disadvantage for a reason. Wizarding raised children would have experience with potions. If nothing else they probably were given potions when they were sick. Hargid assumed that Harry knew all about Hogwarts, why wouldn't Snape have thought the same thing? Have you never heard of a teacher asking questions at the beginning to find out where the students were at and what they all ready knew. Then Harry makes a smart alexy remark about what Snape learned in teacher college. Harry knows there is no wizarding teacher's college. Hagrid was expelled and was still able to teach. In books Harry doesn't care that everyone thinks Hagrid is a bad teacher. All Harry cares about is that Hagrid is his friend and so Hagrid should keep his job even if the students are miserable. Harry complains that they were not told to read the school books. Wouldn't the normal reaction to finding out you were a wizard be to start looking to see what you could do? Wouldn't you be excited about learning magic?
Voldemort tries to kill Harry. He kidnaps Harry and uses the cruciato on him. What does Snape do? Smarky, yes. But Snape saves Harry's life. How does Snape hurt Harry? Sure Sanpe is the "mean teacher" but... Snape may threaten to expel Harry, but that is an idle threat. Dumbledore would never let it happen. And if Harry doesn't do well in Potions class, so what? McGongel tells him he needs it to be an auror; but given how the wizarding world works Harry could fail all the NEWTs and still be accepted as an auror. The favoritism systematic in the wizarding world would let the "Boy Who Lives" get whatever job he wants.
After DH, JK tells as Harry becomes on auror. I don't think Harry and co. bother to got back to school another year or take the NEWTs. I think the "hero who destroyed Voldemort" had an exception made for him.
And why is Neville making the same mistake in the first class if he now has self-confidence?
