A group of people are shipwrecked when their yacht runs around on a South Pacific island. The usable hierarchy in a upper-class British family breaks down quickly when it becomes apparent that only the servant Crichton is capable of surviving on his own and he becomes the communities leader

The hierarchy is reversed with Crichton at the top.

The others learned to be more accepting of others outside of their class.

But back in England Crichton goes back to his old place. Now that she outranks him, he rejects Mary. It made me said to see him leave Lady Mary behind. He really believes in the class system.
