I'm glad he didn't end up with Christine. That hair cut did nothing for her. I was surprised to find out it was the same actresses who plays Esther on New Tricks. I felt like she had nothing to give him. She was very dedicated to her cause, but to the exclusion of everything else. She barely accepted his support.
